Basic Information on the University of Iowa

The University of Iowa is considered to be one of the best schools in thestate and also in the surrounding area. The University of Iowa is located inthe southeast part of the state, in a town called Iowa City. It is also locatedon the shores of the Iowa River. Iowa City is often listed in “best places tolive” studies because of the great public schools, safe neighborhoods andeducated population. Iowa City and the surrounding areas have a totalpopulation of about 90,000 people, part of which are the students enrolled atthe nearby University.

There are over 28,000 students enrolled at the University of Iowa. Themakeup of students is diverse. 64% of students enrolled at the University ofIowa are residents of Iowa. Another 21% of students come from the adjoiningstates of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, and South Dakota.8% of students come from other states in the U.S. There are also students from106 countries around the world represented at the University Of Iowa.
